Thanks Steve, always nice to hear my review has helped! I also liked Glenlivet 12YO. For some odd reason, Glenfiddichs haven't worked with me, even though tried different expressions by them.

Based on Glenlivet 12YO and this Edradour likings, you might find good suggestions from my fruity noted whisky examples https://www.whiskyrant.com/whiskey-tasting-guide/fruity-notes/ or especially citrus noted ones https://www.whiskyrant.com/whiskey-tasting-guide/citrus-notes/

Sweet whiskies in general might do the trick https://www.whiskyrant.com/whiskey-tasting-guide/sweet-notes/ although my listing in there is packed with heavy full sherried examples like Aberlour and GlenDronach.

Benromach 10YO https://www.whiskyrant.com/benromach-10-year-old-review/ or Clynelish 14YO https://www.whiskyrant.com/clynelish-14-review/ could be your cup of tea, out of those citrus noted examples

Absolutely loved reading this blog! The whisky journey presented in this blog is not only informative but also very enjoyable. The writing is very honest and personal, and it makes the reviews much more interesting than the usual score-based reviews. It is very refreshing to see passion and curiosity drive the reviews rather than hype. Whether you are a seasoned whisky lover or still exploring your palate, the information presented in this blog is very valuable and inspiring. Keep up the fantastic work!

In reply to <a href="https://www.whiskyrant.com/kavalan-solist-sherry-cask-strength/#comment-50878">ChrMu</a>.

Hi, that's the same expression but different vintage.

The bottle I got a sample was from cask number S081224001, distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2017. Here's that bottling listed in Whiskybase: https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/123949/kavalan-solist

The one you found from Delias Whiskyshop was 2014 vintage. Also listed in Whiskybase but unfortunately doesn't have any reviews and rating: https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/273101/kavalan-solist

General overview of this expression seems like it's scored quite nice ratings so my guess is that it's a solid choice which ever vintage you choose. Whiskybase is the best place to look for more detailed info about brand bottlings and possible expression quality variations.

Thanks for the comment and sorry to hear that Jayne. This Penderyn Madeira single malt that I tried was definitely on the stingy side when it comes to first impressions. I managed to make it smoother by giving it plenty of air time, letting it rest in the glass. Still, not the best notes for my palate because it's quite pointy and fruity.

Hi,

Unfortunately haven't tasted that one. In general, I like Japanese (and Irish) blends more than Scottish ones. They tend to make them smoother. Whiskybase has good scores for the older bottlings so might be a good bet to buy it, especially with that price.

Hi, one whisky I've also reviewed, comes to mind. Girvan's grain whisky, though I don't know its current availability, might be hard to get. Here's my review: https://www.whiskyrant.com/girvan-patent-still-no4-apps-single-grain-whisky/

Many thanks for this review of the Springwood dram, it was always one of my favourites. Sadly, Auchentoshan seem to have discontinued it, do you know of a whisky that tastes similar to this one please?

Many Thanks

Regards
