Ardmore Single Cask – bottled for Viskiryhmä Turku

This Private Cask Ardmore was bottled for Viskiryhmä Turku, which is a small yet vibrant whisky community in Turku region (held in Facebook). Ardmore distillery was built in 1898 by William Teacher’s son (Adam) to secure fillings for their famous Teacher’s Highland Cream blend.

This 13 year old whisky was distilled 24.04.2012 and bottled 02.06.2025. It’s been matured in
refill Sherry puncheon cask number 120000010. Limited to only 240 bottles and bottled at whopping 59,7% alcohol by volume level.

These are my quick notes as I don’t own a bottle myself. Tasted from my friend’s bottle on midsummer eve 2026.

Nice addition to Ardmore legacy

My experience with Ardmores is thin. I found their core range non age stated single malt, Ardmore Legacy, a bang for buck smoke whisky. I also like Teacher’s blend, one of the best in its category.

They managed to do a good job with this private cask edition, bottled for Turku’s whisky group aficionados.

Ex-Sherry puncheon

Non-chill filtered, no added colour

Colour: Chardonnay

ABV: 59.7%

Nose: Green apples with hints of cinnamon. Toffee and more warming spices. Citrus and floral notes.

Taste: Citrus and even hints of strawberries. Addition of water makes palate much sweeter. Wee smoke along with candy notes.

Finish: Lemon and hay. Sweet floral notes. Licorice, leather and sweet chocolate rise buried deep after adding drops of water.

Balance: Quite steady dram. Letting it rest in the glass and adding few drops of water makes it much better. Adds new layers and sweetens the profile.
