Best Whiskies under $100 or $200

For best conclusion you should always get the average score for each whisky from the masses. With masses I mean whisky enthusiasts in different forums. My favorite places when searching tasting notes and majority opinions are Whisky Connosr and Whiskybase. Latter has a large user number so you’ll be getting the most objective opinion from there.

But in here you can find WhiskyRant’s best whiskies. I usually taste and judge whiskies under 100 dollars/euros/pounds, so these are bang for buck whiskies on the market. There might be few over 100, but at least these are whiskies under 200 dollars/euros/pounds.

Top drams from my “Over 90 point whiskies” category

1 99 points. Sullivans Cove American Oak Single Cask  Stunning Tasmanian single malt made using purest ingredients. Very rare small batch whisky so it’s the only one on this list that might have a price tag over $200.
2 98 points. Lagavulin 16 yrs  Peated single malt that started my whisky journey. Amazing quality with great price! Even though the price has gone up a bit (like with every whisky in general), you can still get this beauty under $100.
3 97 points. Mackmyra Svensk Rök (Swedish Smoke)  Smoky single malt whisky from Sweden, a real positive upset. Exotic, different kind of smoke below $100 price.
4 96 points. Bushmills 21 yrs Rare  Best Irish whiskey I’ve tasted so far. This falls to the under $200 category with prices going somewhere $120-150.
5 96 points. Ardbeg Uigeadail  One of the most generally acknowledged single malt whiskies, rich smoky dram from Islay’s flagship distillery. Below $100.
6 96 points. Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy Single Pot Still Whiskey  Another great Irish legend made using traditional Irish style. Prices have risen, near but still below the $200 mark.
7 96 points. Säntis Malt Edition Dreifaltigkeit Peated whisky  Switzerland’s version of smoky single malt whisky. Unusual whisky with heavy smoke beer influence on the palate, so not for the faint-hearted. Below $100.
8 96 points. Bowmore Tempest 10 yrs Batch 6  Another Islay treat, by the oldest distillery on the island. Not part of the core range so can be hard to get. Still well below $100.
9 95 points. Bruichladdich 10 yrs – The Laddie Ten  The first edition of Laddie Ten. Not in core range and comes out occasionally so hard to get.
10 95 points. Highland Park 18 yrs  Legendary flagship single malt by the distillery in Orkney island. Price has risen over $100, usually it’s somewhere around $120.
11 95 points. 1776 Barrel Proof Rye Whiskey by James E. Pepper  The best rye whiskey I’ve had so far, well below 100 bucks.
12 95 points. Millstone 100 Dutch Single Rye  Comes close second for being the best rye whisky in my book. Below $100.
