The Latitude 55° Blended Scotch Review

The Latitude 55° Blended Scotch bottle label

The Latitude 55° Blended Scotch was produced for Nordic market, especially Sweden and Finland. Bottled by Vin & Sprit, also known for Grönstedts cognac.

This blend contains unknown Islay whiskies, apparently matured in sherry casks.

Swedish blending of Islay

A blended whisky from Islay region, blended by Swedish blender Folke Anderson. Sounds interesting and exotic.

Unfortunately it’s been blended for the masses. Which means you have to compromise.

Matured in:
Ex-Sherry casks
Colour: Golden copper
Nose: Mellow peat smoke and salty sea air. Hints of vanilla and toffee.
Taste: Smooth light peat and hints of citrus fruits. Butterscotch notes and unpleasant ripe fruits.
Finish: Lemony finish with hints of salt and wee smoky aftertaste. Sweet oak rises very late with hints of nuts.
Balance: Mellow whisky, nothing stands out in a disturbing way, but the quality is generally quite modest.
