Old Buck VYS single malt whisky review
August 8, 2014An Cnoc 12 year old review

Like tasting 500 DAYS OF SUMMER
The 12 year old single malt by An Cnoc didn’t rock my world too much. Not a bad whisky, but a bit too flat-lined on the taste and finish. Yet, very easy to drink but not offering anything special.
This sweet and spicy dram fits nicely with summer evenings. Like a light romantic comedy, so I will call it (500) Days of Summer. Though it doesn’t have the complexity, like the movie had. And the 500 days is not in my description in a flattering way. An Cnoc 12yo is too common, so it kinda feels like you’ve had it before for 500 days.
An Cnoc is made in Knockdhu distillery. They renamed their brand of whiskies because they wanted to avoid confusion Knockando distillery, nearby Knockdhu.
Tasting notes
Matured in:
Ex-Bourbon casks
ABV: 40%
Colour: Sunlight
Nose: Best part of An Cnoc 12yo, fresh with floral and citrus notes. Hints of sweet honey nicely on the back.
Taste: Sweet and very subtle. Spicy herbs and hints of chocolate. Hard to notice anything else on the palate.
Finish: Length is good but otherwise a dull finish. Oak with barley with a drying ending.
Balance: Medium bodied and light whisky. For my taste, definitely too flat. Decent single malt.
