An Cnoc comes from Knockdhu distillery at Speyside. To avoid confusion they renamed their whisky brand for differentiating purposes. Knockando distillery name felt too similar.
Peatheart is their smokiest version, using malt with 40 ppm phenol content. My notes are for Batch 2 and unfortunately, result of quick tasting.
So I have to remain the rights of being wrong with this one!
Tasting notes
Matured in:
Ex-Bourbon casks
Nose: Heavy smoke combined with ripe fruits. Citrus notes and apples in a bonfire.
Taste: Vanilla and lime shaken in smoky environment.
Finish: Hints of floral notes rise from the back of peppers and coal. Peated smoke dominates but leaves bit of room for fruits
Balance: Quite a character! Smoke and peat hits with force, but happy to say that there’s more to this than heavy peat. Young age shows, leaving rough edges and overall score below 85.
