Old Buck 4 year old private cask whisky review
March 26, 2025Highland Park Cask Strength release 2

Quick review of 63,9 % alcohol by volume level cask strength Highland Park single malt whisky. I’m a big fan of the distillery and absolutely loved their cask strength 12 year old, so was looking forward to try this.
This was their second release of the cask strength series. Matured in sherry seasoned European and American oak casks, along with few bourbon casks selected by Master Whisky Maker Gordon Motion.
HP quality guarantee is there
I always think there’s almost like a warranty when sipping the products from my favorite distilleries. Of course I wouldn’t be returning any whiskies even though I didn’t like them. But with certain distilleries, like HP, I always seem to like them.
Matured in:
Ex-Sherry and Ex-Bourbon casks
No added colour
Colour: Deep amber
ABV: 63.9%
Nose: Nice floral and fruity aromas. Dried fruits and summery meadows, along with hints of spices and oak.
Taste: Starts with delicious mix of citrus fruit and coconut notes. Turns bit spicy and peppery, though fruits stay in the palate in a dried way.
Finish: Quite herbal with spices and wood. Wee fruity notes as well, aftertaste lingers nicely.
Balance: Good, refreshing, yet powerful whisky. Follows the usual Highland Park standards of whisky making in a good way.
