Isle of Jura 10 year old review

Isle of Jura distillery logo

Isle of Jura 10 year old is a steady executor, smooth from the start until the finish. Matured in Ex-Bourbon casks, not at all a complex single malt whisky. Bit spicy but nothing like Jura Superstition in spiciness. I’d say that Jura 10YO is a safe option. A nice afternoon starter for example.

Jura 10 year old whisky review

Spending time UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN

If you want to lay low, not wanting to draw too much attention, serve this whisky. A movie, that came to my mind: Under the Tuscan Sun. Jura 10YO took me to the hay fields of Tuscany – right away, even though I haven’t been there. My mind just started to wander into a blossoming nature.

This smooth single malt is probably most ideal, when enjoyed with a loved one. And if possible, under the Tuscan sun. Both, the movie and this Islander are mellow and light presentations in their fields.

Matured in:
Ex-Bourbon casks
Colour: Pale straw
Nose: Pretty fresh and delicate dram. Floral and earthly notes dominate, like taking a whiff of freshly cut summer hay. Oak is also very much present. Yet all in a subtle way.
Taste: Full body, barley mixed with sweet toffee. Hints of citrus on the back.
Finish: Plain nice with medium length and some spices, and little bit of honey.
Balance: Very much in balance, nothing ruling anything out. I guess it could have more strong characters. Each step of the tasting seems to go smoothly, everything is even. A delicate, wee spicy whisky from Isle of Jura.
