Springbank 12YO Cask Strength batch 19 review
May 25, 2023BenRiach 10 Year Old Review

Just a few quick notes on BenRiach 10 year old “Original” single malt whisky. BenRiach distillery is one of my favorites but I hadn’t had their drams for quite a long time.
It’s a shame I only had a brief moment for their flagship expression, but bare with me. Matured in combination of virgin, bourbon and sherry casks, this peaty Speysider managed to continue BenRiach’s good track record in my books.
Well, this isn’t the “Smoky Ten” but “Original”, so it’s lightly peated. Label states that smoke level is “trace”.
Tasting notes
Matured in:
Virgin Oak, Ex-Bourbon and Ex-Sherry casks
ABV: 43%
Colour: Light gold
Nose: Vanilla with herbs and oak. Hints of nutmeg and some citrus fruits rise from the back.
Taste: Peppery with vanilla and fruits. Nicely creamy.
Finish: Fruity aftertaste with spices and oak having a blast in the middle.
Balance: Steady walk in BenRiach park, offers no big surprises but still, offers yet again quality like this distillery tends to offer. Traces of smoke I couldn’t catch.
