WHEN WE WERE KINGS – again

WhiskyRant! review of Tobermory 10yo single malt
Tobermory 10 year old single malt is a very energetic whisky, matured in ex-bourbon casks. It has a dry and fruity kick, which is nicely gentle and that’s why it fits very well to my mouth. I usually don’t like the very dry and fruity ones but Tobermory 10 yrs offers it in a great palate – gently and with complexity.

Edgy and sweet, malty with stingy fruits. One famous line comes to mind: “floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee”. Since Muhammad Ali is only in one movie according to imdb.com, I had to use When We Were Kings, which I’ve used before (but for a different reason).

Tobermory 10YO is like watching Muhammad Ali perform. presenting itself with sensitivity and force. Apparently this 10 year old whisky from the Isle of Mull has been improved a lot. I’ve heard that the old version wasn’t good, so great job Tobermory, this whisky is excellent!

Nose: Sugared barley with oak and spicy notes. Very fresh nose! Some ginger and dryness with toast.

Taste: Sweet with honey. Nicely sharp with dried fruits, oak and peppery tones.

Finish: Nice and long with mild spices and dry notes. Malt and herbs are strong.

Balance: Refreshing dram, dry and crispy but not too sharp and stingy. Great whisky indeed!
