May 22, 2023Torabhaig Allt Gleann Legacy 2nd Release
Torabhaig distillery is a new exciting addition to Scottish whisky landscape, coming from the islands region. They are located in Isle of Skye and started making small batches of whisky in 2017.
I had a pleasure of trying this Second Release of Torabhaig Allt Gleann Legacy at our local tasting. Please bare with me, these are just quick notes of an interesting dram.
According to its label, this single malt whisky has been very heavily peated. The barley has 77 ppm. Although the residual ppm level stays at 17.
Aged in a combination of first-fill bourbon and new-fill whiskey barrels for 3 years, we’re talking about a young heavy hitter of peat for sure.
Like a young promising sibling of Talisker
Coastal influence is very evident. Reminds me of fellow Isle of Skye whisky brand Talisker. Being only their second release and so young, this whisky feels quite good.
I’ll predict a bright future for this fairly new distillery.
