Jack Daniel’s Silver Select Single Barrel review

Jack Daniel's Silver Select Single Barrel Tennessee Whiskey

Jack Daniel’s Silver Select has big alcohol level but it is surprisingly subtle. It balances between sweet and spices nicely, being complex but mellow. All the barrels are aged in a different location in JD’s warehouse.

Jack Daniel’s Silver Select really caught me off-guard. To be honest, I didn’t expect very much from it. Well, for the record, it isn’t a great one. But an 80 point whiskey for me, which is always a nice score. And being Jack Daniel’s, the score is great!

CRAZY HEART straight up from America

JD Silver Select is like Crazy Heart. It is the main character Bad Blake. Who at the end of the day, is actually good. And like country music, it comes straight up from America.

Nose: Vanilla and cinnamon with citrus and hints of caramel. Nose is very subtle for a 50% ABV.

Taste: Thick palate with sweetness and hint of spices. Sugar and vanilla notes, combined with some salt and wood.

Finish: Lasts long with lots of spices kicking in. Sugar and fruits complement the best part of this dram.

Balance: Smooth dram from Jack Daniel’s! Who knew? Thick and characteristic. For its high strength, surprisingly smooth.

Colour: Dark amber
Nose: 20  |  Taste: 19  |  Finish: 21  |  Balance: 20
Overall score: 80

Distillery: Jack Daniel Distillery
Region: Lynchburg, Tennessee, USA
ABV: 50%
