July 13, 2023Rye Malt Whisky Beer Series
Ruosniemen Panimo from Finland has used rye malt whisky barrels for aging their beer. Couple of quick tasting notes regarding this series. Even though both are not full ten point beers, I had to review them because of the interesting Kyrö distillery’s rye whisky barrel influence.
Imperial stout 2021
Beer type: Imperial stout
ABV: 10%
IBU: 53
Colour: Black
Nose: Toasted vanilla and malt. Mixture of dark roasted notes and sweetness.
Taste: Bit roasted. Very smooth and easy to drink. Hints of coffee and dark chocolate. Sweet with dried fruits, might be the rye malt giving that sweetness. You can definitely spot some whisky influence, there’s a boozy feel.
Scoring
Overall a good beer
