Iniquity whisky comes from Tin Shed Distilling Company in Australia. I received these samples from the distillery:
- Iniquity Den’s Dram Single Malt Lazy Daze
- Iniquity Single Malt Whisky Gold Batch 007, 56% ABV
- Iniquity Single Malt Whisky Batch 23 Silver Label, 46% ABV
At the moment they are thinking of expanding their market to Europe, so I felt very excited to taste their expressions.
This one’s called Den’s Dram Single Malt Lazy Daze. It’s been matured in combination of bourbon and red wine casks, and it comes in “entry level 40%” alcohol by volume.
Very quick notes
I could easily see this one as good contender for the masses, as an entry level expression in their core range. Not necessarily a premium malt but definitely a stand out against typical 40% ABV single malts.
Matured in:
Ex-Bourbon and Ex-Red Wine casks
ABV: 40%
Non-chill filtered
Colour: Gold
Nose: Wine and vanilla, strong and punchy.
Taste: Oak dominates. Floral notes start the show, turns into nutty tropical fruits, mostly pears.
Finish: Quite stingy finish, young age shows. Very dry and (red) fruity. Smooth, pleasant vanilla in the aftertaste.
Balance: Fairly young and simple, yet easy to drink.
