Quick notes of Kilchoman Feis Ile 2019 bottling, also known as Kilchoman 2008. I had an opportunity to try this gem at Brewery Restaurant Beerhunter’s during my trip to taste our private cask Old Buck.
According to Whiskybase, this vatting of two 11 year old casks (Oloroso & bourbon) was distilled February 28, 2008 and bottled cask strength on May 20, 2019. Limited to only 939 bottles.
Matured in:
Ex-Sherry Oloroso butt and Ex-Bourbon barrel
Nose: Smooth earthy peat and hints of smoke. Berries and little bit of vanilla.
Taste: Smooth smoky velvet of peat. Sweet and bit fruity.
Finish: Very pleasant smoke and peat. Oak is very strong, bit pointy but turns into nice earthy mix of fruits.
Balance: Rich and powerful, yet smooth dram. Too bad I don’t have a whole bottle of this expression. Exceptional single malt whisky, try it if you can get your hands to it.
